IN REPLY to the local resident who asked for councillors views on the impact of the Western Bypass on the west side of Lancaster (letters, July 26), I agree fully with the points (s)he makes. In my view, if the Western Bypass is built, it will be impossible to stop St Georges Quay, West Road, Westbourne Road and Ashton Road becoming rat runs to Lancaster City Centre. The impact of traffic on these roads is bad enough already and this is yet another reason why the bypass should not go ahead.
