A FULL-SCALE emergency was in operation at Blackpool Airport on Monday after one of the engines on a small plane overheated during its flight.
The starboard engine of the Chieftain twin engine light aircraft -- carrying two people -- shut down eight miles out from the airport.
Police were called out by the airport at 10am and attended the landing along with fire and ambulance crews.
The plane landed safely and police said that no injuries were reported.
Blackpool Airport managing director Gary Eastwood said:"In these circumstances we call a full emergency as a precaution. All the services responded and fortunately the aircraft landed safely."
