GOLDEN summer Sunday afternoons spent listening to music in the park are no longer a thing of the past. Pack your Pimms and picnic rug, because Parklive, a free summer-long programme of music, takes place at Blackpool's Stanley Park every Sunday until August 26. Summer afternoons will come alive to the sounds of jazz, blues, brass, Samba, folk, funk and indie rock, all playing at the traditional bandstand by the lake in the park. All start at 1pm. And on August 26, Parklive culminates in a whole afternoon celebration of music and entertainment throughout the park, starting at 12pm. For more information call 478104.
Lynn Fade, arts development officer for Blackpool Council, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for local residents and visitors to sample a wide variety of music. We are also trying to encourage local bands by giving them a platform to display their talents."
