FOSTER carers Ann Crosby and Betty Stout play an invaluable role in society.
As thanks for their work, the duo are to receive £25 vouchers from Golborne Asda later this month.
The store has teamed up with Wigan Social Services to promote fostering in the borough as part of the company's Stand Up for Kids Campaign.
The department hopes to boost the number of carers by at least 10 per cent over the next six months, and staff will be at the store on August 20 to discuss the role.
Coun David Kelly, a member of the Wigan Council health and social services panel, said: "I know that a number of foster carers are regulars at the store and keep the staff informed of the fun and rewards and the trial and tribulations of fostering.
"Fostering can be a very rewarding experience and we are always looking for community-minded people who enjoy looking after children.
"By increasing the number of carers, we can also give some of our hard-working carers the chance of well-earned rest between placements."
A number of different fostering schemes exist for people with all interests and time commitments.
Anyone who feels they can help foster a child, a child who cannot live at home move to a permanent placement, or eventually return home, should contact Paul at the Wigan Family Placement team on 01942 516739 for advice and an in formation pack.
