HOW infuriating it is to see an endless convoy of Blackpool Transport double-deck buses racing back and forth on Headroomgate Road either empty or with just a handful of passengers.
Private hire it may be, but there is still a need for some sort of bus service for the travelling public along that stretch of road.
BT's attitude that a bus service is not needed is very short-sighted -- that route was probably one of the first routes in St Annes 60 or more years ago.
After all, we haven't all got cars and sending every bus down Heeley Road where there's only a pub and half a dozen shops while the original route is axed where there are nursing homes, churches, YMCA, pensioner's hall, schools etc along it is a stupid idea.
Surely a Handy Bus isn't as costly to operate as is a double-decker, even if it only runs once an hour?
As regards Blackpool, they don't cut the over-frequent No 6 there do they. The town is saturated with buses on various routes!
It seems that across the boundary we're in a foreign land, but BT are glad enough of our money just the same without providing a decent service.
