TWO brothers accused of being involved in an attack outside a pub which left a young Manchester United footballer with brain damage have been cleared by a jury.
Steven Crutchley, aged 24, of Fordland Close, Lowton, and Neil Crutchley, aged 26, of Sudbrook Close, Lowton, had been on trial at Bolton Crown Court.
Steven Crutchley denied causing Allen Marsh, a goalkeeper with the Premier League champions, grievous bodily harm on December 9, 1999 after an incident outside the Hare and Hounds pub in Lowton, and, along with his brother, also denied a charge of affray.
Stephen Crutchley was cleared of grievous bodily harm and affray after a five day trial and his brother Neil was acquitted of affray.
