AN elderly man is in hospital with serious chest injuries today after his car was in a head-on collision with another motor in Todmorden yesterday.
A red Ford Fiesta, travelling along Burnley Road, collided with a red Nissan Micra going in the opposite direction at around 11.15am. The driver of the Fiesta, who police say is in his 80s, received serious chest injuries and was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary by the West Yorkshire Air Ambulance. The driver and passenger of the Nissan Micra were taken to Burnley General Hospital with whiplash and bruising. Burnley Road was closed for more than an hour. Sgt Phil Foster, of Halifax Police, said that because of the seriousness of the injury details of the drivers and passenger were not currently being released.
