THE fourth junior doctor to earn himself the honour of receiving the annual Henry Stordy Shield was Dr Maqbool Ahmad, of Rossendale General Hospital.
The shield was donated to the Mental Health Department of the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Health Trust by the family of the late Henry Stordy, the father of a patient who was treated in the mental health unit at Burnley General.
It is awarded every year to the junior doctor felt to have presented the most interesting case during the weekly training sessions in the department.
This year during the fourth presentation the shield was handed over to Dr Ahmad (right), a staff grade doctor in the mental health directorate, by the chief executive of the health care trust David Chew (left).
Dr Ahmad has worked for the trust for six months was the unanimous choice of the consultants for the award.
He received a small shield for himself and a book token donated by the Chatten family of Harrogate.
