POLICE today said they would look at using a new stun gun after calls were made by Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans.
The Tory vice chairman has written to Home Secretary David Blunkett asking that stun guns are available to every police force throughout the country.
London and Northamptonshire police are preparing to use the weapons -- known as tasers -- in a bid to stop fatal shootings of suspects by police.
Nigel Evans said: "I have asked that the Home Secretary guarantees the availability of these guns to every force and that sufficient funds be made available to ensure that forces like Lancashire, if they deem necessary, be able to afford them."
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We will have to look at the results of tests at London and Northamptonshire to see if they would be suitable for Lancashire."
