GREAT Harwood professional Farhan Adil was within five runs of breaking the club's batting record with 160 against Baxenden on Saturday.

The Pakistani all-rounder led his side to a club record league total of 296-3 and was backed up by Ian Haworth, 44, and Craig McKay, 64.

Baxenden replied with 153-2 before rain after 32 overs, with pro Jonathan Harvey hitting 86 and Dave Usher 53, but Harwood took the run rate victory.

Leaders Read slipped after Clitheroe set a target of 177-5 with Andy Burns scoring 80. Read pro Akram Raza took 4-61 and scored 52 with the bat but his side were ousted for 158.

Settle's Stuart Hornby took 8-44 to dismiss Earby for 137 after they had been set 192-4.

Oswaldtwistle's Aussie pro Will Carr captured 5-28 as Padiham were shot out for 81as Immanuel secured a six wicket victory.

Cherry Tree went top despite being bowled out for 147 after Edenfield's Brett Storey took 6-61. Edenfield closed on 141-9.

Whalley surprised Blackburn Northern with Lee Kearsley scoring 79 as they made 226-3. Northern were dismissed for 198 with Chariwala scoring 72.

Barnoldswick batted through 45 overs scoring 75 runs for the loss of nine wickets against Ribblesdale who secured a five wicket victory.

On Sunday Cherry Tree took maximum points from Blackburn Northern.

Northern were dismissed for 173 and the leaders secured a two wicket win despite Ata ur Rehman taking 5-86.

Read slipped after Padiham pro Faheem Fazal snapped up 8-47. Graham Jones scored 61 as the Arbories club secured a five wicket win.

Great Harwood are making things hot, Matthew Cheesbrough scored 57 and pro Farhan Adil 55 as they reached 221-7. Oswaldtwistle were 149-9 in reply with Gerard Metcalfe scoring 52.

Paul Newton snapped up 6-20 despite suffering jet-lag after flying in from work commitments in America and driving straight to the ground.

Edenfield reached 153 with Mark Rishton scoring 54 not out. Sub professional Zaid Anwar took eight wickets as Baxenden fell for 143.

Earby made 159-8 with captain Ian Clarkson notching 82 against Barnoldswick. Professional Raja Arshad took 7-55 and added 40 with the bat but his team fell short on 138-8.

Ribblesdale Wanderers pulled off a derby victory over Clitheroe, who were restricted to 112-7, despite 65 not out from Dexter Fitton. Wanderers scored 116-9 with Clitheroe's Neil Bibby taking 6-34.

Whalley beat Settle with Kevin Reid on 49 as they set the Dales side a target of 194-8. Young batsman Tom Calloway was 54 not out for Settle as they fell just short of the target on 182-7.
