AGE was no barrier for pensioners competing in a national talent final for "Silver Star 2001".
Great-grandmother-of-five Iris Slack (67), of Bury Road, Tottington, sang Judy Garland and Peggy Lee hits, competing against 13 other finalists in the contest to find the cream of over-60s talent.
Although she failed to clinch any of the top spots, Iris said that she was proud to have reached the Southport final.
Her friend, 70-year-old Janet Moss, of Little Lever, came second, winning £500 and a trophy, after performing a comedy monologue. She began her road to the final with a heat at Prestwich's Longfield Suite.
