PRINCE'S Trust volunteers dug deep to bring gardens at Ribchester Drive Children's Home into full bloom.
Feeling that the gardens looked "dark and dismal", three young volunteers who live at the home suggested they do something. They were part of a 12-strong team from the borough who raised money for a revamp with a string of charity events, before getting down to the spadework.
Weeds were removed, uncovering a huge sandstone rockery which had been hidden from view. Shrubs were planted and a recreation area and swings were tidied up and given a lick of paint.
Claire Adams from the Groundwork Trust, which co-ordinated the project, said: "It was an ideal project for them to take part in. They've got a lot of satisfaction out of it and learnt a lot of different things, like working together."
