Frustration as rain falls heavy
BOTH Atherton Collieries and Prestwich Heys were frustrated by the weather last night, as a waterlogged pitch forced their Goldline Trophy tie to be postponed.
The game was cancelled after heavy weekend rain left the pitch sodden.
Should the rain abate, tonight fans should expect a treat in Group D as Daisy Hill meet Radcliffe Amateurs.
Both sides are outsiders to progress to the latter stages of the event and the losers of tonight's game will be eliminated so the tie should prove to be a gripping encounter.
A draw would see both teams face an early exit, although the extent of their success may only be known after Thursday's clash of the Group D titans between Pennington and Blackrod Town.
Tomorrow night's games are also potential thrillers.
Rivington and Elton Fold will contest a match merely for pride at Hilton Estate in Horwich after failing to muster a point between them so far.
But the game of the night should be at Hindsford, where the hosts could give themselves a chance of progression by beating Atherton LR, for whom victory would guarantee their position as group winners ahead of Charnock Richard. Kick-off forall evening matches is 6:30pm.
