CCTV cameras should be in place in Stacksteads by the new year.
Although Rossendale Council failed to secure Government funding for the five cameras, money was secured from Bacup and Stacksteads SRB and the same anonymous donor who paid for the camera system in Bacup.
The cameras will be along the main road through the town most at points yet to be determined, but one will be covering the Rose 'n' Bowl car park in Newchurch Road.
Street lighting supervisor David Harrison said: "The car park is going to undergo some renovation work with landscaping, fencing and the bays will be remarked.
"The recycling centre which is based there will be staying in the area. We hope the cameras will come on line early in the new year -- quite a lot depends on the car park works which have yet to go out to tender."
