A PERSISTENT peacock who has been strutting his stuff in a garden is ruffling a family's feathers.

Maureen Demain, of Wyfordby Avenue, Blackburn, said the peacock had arrived more than a week ago and showed no signs of leaving his plush new pad.

"I've even rung the RSPCA to see if they would take it away, but they tell me there's not a lot they can do if the bird is not injured. And it seems absolutely fine," she added.

Mrs Demain said the peacock occasionally popped into a neighbouring garden to spice up his solitary life and parade his many colours, but always returned.

"He's eating the plants, and to be honest I'm quite worried about it. I just don't know what to do," Mrs Demain said.

And some of the elderly residents on Wyfordby Avenue were alarmed at the prospect that the peacock might decide to up feathers and move in with them.

"If anybody actually owns it I just hope they'll get in touch," Mrs Demain added.
