out of touch REGARDING your article (LET, July 25), on the "non-sentence" handed down by Hyndburn magistrates to Lee Finglass for breaching an anti social behaviour order that they had imposed in the first place, the police could have trebled his detention period by holding him in custody for questioning -- 36 hours maximum, I believe.
And after the leniency shown by the magistrates, perhaps the next attempt at having justice "seen to be done" will be better. For you also report (LET, July 28) on Finglass being bailed for sentence by Preston Crown Court after pleading guilty to robbing someone of property.
With someone who has such a blatant disregard for the laws of the land and the courts that administer them, I hope that the crown court has a closer view of reality than that shown by Hyndburn magistrates.
Otherwise, I should think that the police see the action of arresting Mr Finglass is a complete waste of their overstretched resources.
