STAFF and customers at the Four Lane Ends pub, Kiddrow Lane, Burnley, had to mind their language when a swear box was put on the bar.
But slips of the tongue proved a benefit for Hospice Care for Burnley and Pendle.
Landlady Michelle Cawtherley decided to raise money for Pendleside Hospice, Reedley, after they cared for her late stepfather.
The air in the pub must have turned blue on the odd occasion as the box contained £120 donated by red-faced customers who forgot to mind their language. The money will help Hospice Care for Burnley and Pendle towards its fund-raising target of £800,000 this year.
Kaye Bartle, fund-raising manager, said: "This is yet another way to raise money.
"It's amazing that such a simple thing as a swear box can raise that amount. We are very grateful to everyone at the Lane Ends who contributed."
