PRESTON is going ahead with its second bid for city status.
Following an emergency meeting of council resource chiefs on Friday, August 3, it was decided that £30,000 will be made available to promote the bid.
Jim Carr, Preston Borough Council chief executive, proposed the new bid to the council committee. He said: "The idea received cross party support.
"This time around the criteria for bidding favours us. They stress the importance of things that Preston already has."
