YOUNGSTERS have been given a hard start ready for the new school year at Worden High after taking part in a summer school.
All the children involved are due to start at the school, on Westfield Drive, in Leyland, this September. The aim of the two week of activities was to prepare them for their new surroundings ready for the new school year.
Susan Gardner, a teacher at the school and the coordinator of the event, said: "There are around 36 youngsters all starting in September. We put them into small groups, and they take part in activities designed to be educational but as enjoyable as possible. This will help them boost their confidence ready for the new school year.
"And because they will be going to school with the other children in the group, it means they will already know the children and the teachers."
"It was a great success, and all the children went away from the last day wanting to come back again!"
