A BLACKPOOL resident celebrated his 100th birthday in style this week with a telegram from the Queen, a Mayoral visit and special party.
Harold Harris who was 100 this week is a resident of the Glen-Marie retirement hotel, Harrow Place, South Shore.
Blackpool Mayor Councillor Sue Wright attended a special lunch to mark the day and entertainment was laid on for Harold and his guests.
Originally from Featherstone in Yorkshire, he began working in the mining industry at 14, and continued to work in mining for most of his life.
He was married to late wife Ruth for 63 years. They shared a love of music -- Harold had played percussion in bands from an early age.
