TEENAGER Scott Gardner, who has just celebrated his 13th birthday, took six strokes off his handicap in two days and is looking to reduce it even further in the coming weeks.
The Wilpshire player, who lives in Clitheroe, started playing competitively at the beginning of the year with a handicap of 42.
By the time he played in the ELGA Junior Championships last week, his handicap was down to 23.
He won the nett prize with a score of 85-23-62 and just 24 hours later, with a handicap of 20, he scored 85 again at Clitheroe to win the nett prize at the Junior Open. He now has a handicap of 17.
"I have four events still to play this season so I am hoping to get it down even more," said the Pleckgate High School pupil, who broke 100 at just 11 years old.
"I was expecting to get it down but I only expected to get it down to about 18 this year."
Scott, whose dad Dave introduced him to golf when he was just two, can drive a shot a massive 270 yards.
"Instead of watching cartoons when I was a kid I used to watch golf videos."
