REBECCA White will have her last chance to jump 13m this season when she competes for Great Britain Under 23s against France at Ashford on Saturday.

The Haslingden triple jumper has been aiming for the target all season so that, ahead of next season, she has a Commonwealth Games qualifying leap in the bag.

She did it once this season-- with 13.09 -- but it was wind assisted and her personal best currently stands at 12.85.

"I'm not really feeling too much pressure as I can try and get it again next season," said the 21-year-old, who lives in Bath and competes for Sale Harriers.

"But if I did get it, it would mean I would just have to concentrate on my rankings next year so it would be a bit of a relief."

If she did do it, as long as she finished in the top three in the Commonwealth Games trials set to be held in the specially built stadium in Manchester early next year, she would qualify for the games.

Jumping the 13m mark though is vital to qualifying.

"When I jumped 13.09 earlier this season, I couldn't believe it when it was wind assisted.

"Everyone else's jumps were okay and, for all mine, the wind was illegal and that was frustrating.

"But I know I can do it now which is a lift."

Rebecca is currently keeping track of the World Championships in Edmonton, Canada where Great Britain's number one triple jumper Ashia Hansen, is the only one competing from this country.

Ashia reached Friday's final last night after a qualifying jump of 14.51m -- her best this season.

"It has been great watching it, especially Jonathan Edwards winning gold and it just makes you realise how much you would love to be there."

And if not in the triple jump, Rebecca decided she wants to try out another field event.

"I was watching the pole vault and decided I want a go!

"I did get into the triple jump accidentally by just entering it as an extra event at a meeting when I was younger and for some reason, I now fancy the pole vault.

"I won't worry about the coming down, it's just the going up that could be a problem but I might give it a go in a year or two if I stop triple jumping!"

But for now she is just focussing on the end of the season -- and her last meeting before a well earned rest.

"At the moment, I do feel mentally and physically tired after competing every weekend. It does get to you.

"But I'll sit down with my coach next week and decide what I should do over the winter.

"Hopefully I will have a good rest -- especially August and September -- as next year, with the Commonwealth Games, could be a big year."
