CYCLING 25 miles through atrocious conditions would be bad enough for anyone, but imagine doing it with a major lung disorder.

That is what Mr Terry Booth (54) of Park Avenue, Radcliffe, did to raise money for old folk.

"I had an infection in my diaphragm which means part of my right lung doesn't inflate properly," he said.

"But I wanted to raise money for Elmhurst Home for the Elderly in Whitefield where my wife Karen works."

Along with his son, Colin (25), and three female workers from the Whalley Road home, he rode from Lancaster to Blackpool last month to raise more than £1,000.
