BUDDING big-screen stars are being offered the chance to try out a prestigious arts school for free this month.

Access to the Arts, which is based at Fred Longworth High School, Tyldesley, provides a unique service for youngsters in the North West.

Students attending Saturday morning workshops work with professional actors and directors of stage and film, receive expert dance coaching from Apple Dance, of Leigh, and professional singing lessons from a Bolton School of Music teacher.

Operated by One Plus One Productions Ltd, the classes have full use of the purpose-built drama and dance facilities at the arts college.

The new term is due to start on September 15, and organisers are offering a free session to anyone interested in joining.

Opportunities planned for the new term include the chance for students to script and perform in their own short film, to perform plays directed by professionals such as Andrew Fillis, of Brookside fame, there will be performances during and at the end of each term.

There is also the opportunity to take London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art exams in acting.

The school currently focuses on the 10-18 age range, but is keen to expand its six-10 age group.

Workshops are from 9am-1pm every Saturday, and usually cost £16 per session. To sample the fun, contact Bob Collins on 01204 848688.
