A PUB is staging a fund raising evening tonight to help a sick youngster's dream trip to Disneyland.
The Cemetery Hotel, Cemetery Road, Darwen, is helping five-year-old Jake Scott after landlady and landlord Barbara and Cliff Critchley heard of his fight against leukaemia.
Jake, of Ratcliffe Street, Darwen, has battled the disease into remission over the past three years. He had his last appointment for treatment this week, but will go for check-ups once a month.
In October Jake goes to Disneyland, Florida, with his mum Michelle, grandmother Val O'Reilly and brother David, four.
The holiday was paid for by the Blackpool-based Kensington Foundation, which grants wishes to seriously ill children.
Cliff and Barbara found out about Jake and decided to help her with the spending money, even though they had never met.
"We don't know the family. We just wanted to help, so we got together," said Cliff.
"We hope to raise around £1,000 for them."
Michelle said: "The trip to America is a happy ending to it all. I would like to thank Geoff and Barbara and everybody else who has helped.
Tonight's event will feature a singer, raffle, disco and supper. It starts at 8pm.
