IT will be a close shave for a group of fundraisers as they prepare for a hair-raising experience.

Simon Brown and Mathew Healey, from Wilpshire, and David Eagles, from Rishton, will be losing their locks tonight in a bid to raise money for the East Lancashire Branch of Christies Against Cancer.

Simon, who works at Witton Park, Blackburn, was spurred on to help the charity after being diagnosed with cancer in 1999.

After undergoing an operation to free him of the disease, he must now wait three more years to see if he is in the clear.

The intrepid threesome are hoping to raise about £800 from the event, which is due to take place at 10pm at the Rising Sun pub, in Mellor. Visitors and donations will be more than welcome to attend the event.
