ST HELENS Sutton A.C.'s girls found incentive from the National Standards Scheme when taking part in the most recent round of the Macdonalds Girls Track League held at the Victoria Park, Warrington with eight of them achieving national standards.
In the under 15 years age group, there were grade three standards for Jodi Nelson in the 800 metres with her time of 2 min.31.4 secs, for Laura Evans in the shot with a put
of 9.44 metres, and for Caroline Morley in both the high jump with 1.45 metres and in the 75 metre hurdles with 12.8 secs.
Grade four standards were achieved in the javelin by Jodi with 22.99 metres and by Laura with 20.43 metres.
In addition Caroline ran 200 metres in 29.3 secs and Catherine Fitzhenry ran 800 metres in 2 min.53.9 secs. and long jumped 3.16 metres.
There were more successes in the under 13 years age group.
Grade three standards were achieved by Sara Green in the 800 metres with her time of 2 min.46.1 secs, Sarah Lewis in the 75 metres with 11.0 secs, and Jessica Cretu in the 70 metres hurdles with a time of 13.6 secs.
Grade four standards were achieved by Sara in the shot with her put of 5.65 metres, Sarah in the long jump with 3.54 metres, Jessica in the 75 metres with a time of 11.3 secs.
Laura Savage achieved the standard in both the 800 metres with 2 min.56.5 secs and the long jump with 3.54 metres.
Vicky Johnson achieved it with her long jump of 3.69 metres and also ran the 150 metres in 24.6 secs.
Sarah Lewis, Laura Savage, Jessica Cretu and Vicky Johnson made up the 4 x 100 metres relay time which ran a time of 59.1 secs.
