A ST HELENS-based police officer has been commended by Merseyside's Chief Constable, Norman Bettison at a ceremony at Knowsley Hall.
Detective Constable Andrew Ince received a certificate of commendation for his "commitment, professionalism and tenacious detective work" during the investigation into the robbery of Lady Muriel Oxford, widow of former Merseyside Chief Constable, Sir Kenneth.
The offender, who had a history of extreme violence against vulnerable elderly people, was subsequently sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.
