A DISTRICT post office has been forced to close because no-one has been appointed to replace the sub-postmaster!
Harry Williamson has resigned after running Thatto Heath Post Office from 1987 to August of this year.
Alan Hudson, retail network manager, said: "Mr Williamson has been trying to sell his business for some time but agreed to maintain the post office while we looked for someone suitable to take over.
Unfortunately, this process is taking much longer than we hoped and the office has had to close.
"Although, to date, we have not been able to find anyone, we will continue to consider applications from anyone interested in running a post office in Thatto Heath and remain hopeful that we will be able to re-open it".
In the meantime, counter services are available within a mile at Nutgrove Post Office in Nutgrove Road.
