THIS year's Mayor's Golf championship will be held on Saturday, September 1.
Sponsors are now being sought for the annual event, which has raised £43,000 since it began in 1989. Each sponsor receives two free entries to the competition, advertising on the tee and around the clubhouse at Sherdley Park golf club, plus a complimentary meal for the competitors. Sponsorship is £125 a hole.
Proceeds from this year's tournament will go to the Mayor's Appeal which is the town's new Millennium Centre -- a one-stop help and advice centre for health, social services and voluntary organisations.
Mayor, Councillor Keith Roberts, said: "We are grateful to Sherdley Park Golf Club for organising this popular fund-raising event. I sincerely hope everyone who is participating in the tournament will have a thoroughly enjoyable day and event will be as successful as ever".
Anyone interested in sponsoring can contact David Heyes on 01744 456065 or Christine Cox on 01744 456107.
