THE landlady of a pub, closed by its owners because it was no longer 'economically viable', said goodbye to her regulars with a fireworks party and cut price booze.
The Three Pigeons Pub, Oakenhurst Road, Blackburn, shut on Thursday when customers took advantage of a £1 a drink offer.
The pub was built as part of a development of flats, houses and shops during the 1960s.
Landlady Rosemary Finn, 47, had been informed by her bosses, Pubmaster, that the business was not proving profitable enough and they had no option but to sell it.
She said: "It's a pity because we have had more people coming in since the announcement that we had to sell up."
A spokesman for Pubmaster, who bought the business in 1989, said: "Like any forward looking company, Pubmaster is constantly reviewing how our estate is performing.
"Unfortunately, the Three Pigeons was not doing as well as we would have liked, and a decision was made to sell it to a local businessman."
