POLICE hunting a sex attacker who indecently assaulted children on a Blackburn estate have arrested a 33-year-old man.
The suspect was detained as officers revealed there had been another incident, involving an eight-year-old girl, on Thursday night.
A four-year-old girl was dragged into the rear yard of a house close to her home in the Bank Top area and attacked at 1.30pm last Sunday.
Her mother later revealed that the girl re-lived what had happened every day and had asked: "When is the naughty man going to jail?"
Police later said they were linking the attack to a number of other incidents reported in the area.
A man from the Manchester area was arrested last night and was due to be questioned by detectives over the weekend.
Chief Insp Neil Smith of Blackburn Police said: "A man has been arrested in relation to the series of indecent assaults in the Bank Top/Johnston Street area of Blackburn, the latest of which was on an eight-year-old girl on Thursday night.
"He will be questioned over the weekend."
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incidents to contact them on 01254 51212 or 0800 555111.
