NOVICE David Price is set to compete in a TV football quiz show -- but says he knows nothing about the game.
David Price, 32, is the man in charge of a Hapton-based website provider but although he has been a fan of Burnley all of his life he says he knows little about football.
David, of Lane Head, Burnley, will help to represent a Clarets-mad team. He said: "I know that it sounds daft and I have liked watching Burnley ever since I was a tot, but I really do not know a lot about football.
"Since I have been involved in the website I have gained a little more knowledge about the sport, but I am afraid I might be put to shame on the programme."
David has been elected as a substitute for the show and will be on the bench of every round that the team, made up of three players and two substitutes, get through.
David will be taking it all in his stride and admits that it will be good for a laugh.
He said: "I am relying on the lads in the team to get us through. I am hoping that I won't have to answer any questions because I know I will show myself up." The lads will be competing against 108 other supporting teams from across the country. The team members are Jason Hall, of Manchester Road, Dunnockshaw, who will be captain of the team, John Medley, of Worcestershire, Paul Jarvis, of Victoria Road, Earby, Gavin Bleasdale, of Green End Avenue, Barnoldswick and David Price.
The lads are all keen to go on the show but say that they would never have missed the first Burnley game of the season for the show.
Jason Hall, said: "We are looking forward to the show, but we would not have missed the first game of the season for it. We are all hoping that we will do as well as
Burnley will do on Sunday. and will run to the climax of the football season.
It will be shown every weekday on the new ITV Sport Channel with repeats going out at 10.30pm.
North versus south clashes are all on the menu for the new show as teams of supporters representing every single club in the Premiership, the Nationwide Leagues, and the Scottish Premier League battle it out.
The show is set to be hot as Premiership sides tackle the Division Three lot and it will be a game of two halves for David and the rest of his Burnley Division One mad group to out do the likes of Rushden & Diamonds.
The prize for getting through all of the rounds will be a trophy, plus an exotic holiday abroad for each team member and a partner of their choice.
