CHORLEY went down 4-2 in a pre-season friendly against Leigh RMI -- but the scoreline flattered the Conference side.
The game was all-square at 2-2 with 10 minutes to go but a late double from Leigh secured a win.
But Chorley boss Ken Wright said he was happy with the performance.
"I was more than happy with the performance against a strong Conference side," he said.
Chorley had the best of the opening exchanges but it was Leigh who took the lead on 20 minutes when Chorley's Noel Corrigan gifted the visitors a chance when his header to keeper Simon Marsh fell short of its target.
Chorley's Danny Knowles had a goal disallowed for offside before the equaliser came from Andy Mason.
But Leigh were back in front early in the second half when Marcus Hallows took advantage of keeper Marsh's hesitancy in coming off his line.
Substitute David Sutch put the Magpies back on level terms, converting a Corrigan chance.
But eight minutes from time bad defending from a free kick allowed Leigh to get their noses back in front and just before the final whistle Chorley's Tony Black brought down Paul Fleming in the area and Fleming himself converted the penalty. RESULT: CHORLEY 2... LEIGH 4
