ABORTED plans to build a homeless hostel in Bury have been replaced with proposals for a housing development.
Manchester Methodist Housing were forced to withdraw their application to build a complex on land at Baron Street, Bury, to help the homeless after massive public opposition.
Local residents feared the hostel would bring undesirables to the area, concerns that were dismissed by the housing association. But the association decided to take the drastic step to scrap their application after the huge public outcry, which officials said would put their clients at risk.
Now a new planning application has been submitted by property developers, Ainsworth Homes (Northern) Ltd, seeking to build eight terraced houses and a three storey block housing 18 flats.
