PLANS to extend a garage and build a first-floor extension above it in Bent Lane, Colne, have been turned down by councillors.
The house had already been extended to the side and back at ground-floor level to provide an enlarged kitchen, garage, study and utility room.
Members of Colne and District Committee refused the application on the grounds it is unacceptable because the extension would close the gap between the houses.
This would be detrimental to the character of this area, which is in the Lidgett and Bents Conservation Area and would be contrary to the Pendle Local Plan which seeks to preserve and enhance the character of conservation areas.
