A MAN charged with abduction and indecent assault was remanded in custody for 48 hours yesterday -- two hours after he had been granted bail.
Former Blackburn College worker Mark Hayhurst, 33, from Manchester, was given bail by magistates on two counts of abducton and two of indecent assault, said to have been committed in the last week.
Crown Prosecution Service solicitor Claire Fanning, applied for permission to appeal against the decision and, two hours later, magistrates decided to remand Hayhurst for up to 48 hours so that the appeal could be heard at Preston Crown Court.
Earlier, it was alleged that in two incidents in Blackburn, Hayhurst had abducted and indecently assaulted girls aged four and eight. For Hayhurst, Kevin Preston said he would deny the offences.
