ASHLEY Siddle continued his recent good form in matchplay golf by winning his first round tie at the British Boy Championships at Ganton.
The Rossendale player, who is 18, reached the semi final of the English Amateur Men's Championships at Saunton, Devon a fortnight ago.
He beat Spain's Jorge Bartolme by two holes with one to play at the prestigious Boys Championships yesterday.
He was due to tee off in his second round tie against Switzerland's Timo Weiss at 2pm this afternoon.
A round of the competition will be played every day with the final scheduled for Saturday.
Anthony Keenan, winner of the Blackburn Junior Open on Thursday with a stunning score of six under par -- virtually guaranteeing him a spot in the final of the the Daily Telegraph/Center Parcs Junior Golf Championship at Sea Island, Georgia, in September -- was knocked out in the first round by Spain's Jorge Cantera by two holes with one to play yesterday.
