GOING fishing netted a Bury man a £150 fine.
Rochdale Magistrates were told that Mark James Carne, who was stopped and searched at midnight by police in Middleton, was found in possession of a lock-knife which he claimed he used for fishing.
Carne, 18, a former labourer, of Albert Avenue, Prestwich, Bury, later admitted that he also carried the knife "for protection". He was fined for possessing an offensive weapon and £50 for failing to answer bail and ordered to pay £118 court costs.
