Fabulous 50s and Swinging 60s

"ROCK! ROLL! REMEMBER!" shouted the "flyer" for this sassy show. It opened promisingly with a lively medley, including favourites such as Rock Around The Clock, which set the scene for a light-hearted evening's entertainment.

Leah Bell, Johnny de Little and Peter Donegan worked hard to deliver a well-paced show, and the happily energetic Bee-Hives dancers flaunted colourful costumes to complete the feel-good factor.

Even if you never leave your seat, you'll certainly be on your toes trying to keep up with the numbers which jump about randomly from one era to another.

It's a real mixed bag, including everything from Lonnie Donegan (well, he is Peter's father) to Lulu.

But why, oh why break up the show with an overlong Seventies number, complete with repulsive flared clingy catsuits, curly wigs and star specs? It was a bit of fun but still something I would rather rock, roll and forget.

Although there's no top of the bill as such, the small but perfectly formed Leah really held the whole show together with her saucy, quick-fire comedy. Peter, although accomplished, was overshadowed slightly by the older and more relaxed Johnny de Little. But the audience still loved fresh-faced the 17-year-old all the same.

The enjoyment was clear in the performers' faces, and they were rightly rewarded with enthusiastic applause.
