TWO intruders launched a vicious attack on a 45-year-old man when he confronted them in the kitchen of his home.
The man was woken by the intruders as they broke into his house in Bye Road, Shuttleworth.
One of them kicked and punched him causing him to fall to the floor and the second attacker stamped on his back.The man was then beaten about the head with an unknown weapon.
His wife alerted neighbours who chased away the attackers.
The victim was taken to Bury General Hospital during the early hours of Monday (Aug 13). X-rays were taken to discover the extent of the his injuries. He was kept in for observations.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Heywood of Bury's Operational Police Unit said: "We are following a specific line of enquiry."
