A £50,000 sports area for young people in Whitefield has taken another step nearer to becoming a reality.
Full proposals have now been formally submitted to Bury Council's planning department for a multi-use hard court games area in Stanley Road park.
Basketball and roller hockey could be played in the multi-purpose ball zone built on the site of the former compound area.
A 41-space car park is also included in the plans for bowlers and park users. If approved, the ball zone will be the latest investment at the park. A five-a-side football area has been built and repairs made to the old bowling pavilion.
Picnic areas and litter bins have been installed, roads and footpaths resurfaced, and the Victorian park entrance and seating restored.
The Pilsworth Environment Company has agreed to fund more than half the £50,000 cost of the scheme. The proposals are expected to be discussed by planning bosses in September.
