THE Langdale Country Fair, which was due to take place on Sunday August 19 at Great Langdale, near Ambleside, has been cancelled due to ongoing outbreaks of foot and mouth.
Show secretary Alison Bolt said: "The Committee very much regret the cancellation due to the foot and mouth epidemic."
Already footpaths in the Langdale Valley have recently been opened up, cases of the disease are still occurring in Cumbria and North Yorkshire and the committee expressed regret after considering that the risk of inadvertently bringing the disease on to farmland was too great to allow the show to go ahead.
