Clarets manager Stan Ternent is looking for a home start that will set the tone for the season.
Burnley kick-off their Turf Moor campaign against Wimbledon tomorrow and Ternent emphasised that home is where his side must stake their claim for a promotion or play-off spot.
"To be successful we have to do well at home," said Ternent.
"If we can ensure that our home record is good then that will give us the chance to be up there.
"While I don't set targets on points returns, we have to do well at home and I am sure we can do well.
"No one has turned us over at home big style for a while."
After the flying start at Hillsborough last Sunday expectations are high of the Clarets but, while encouraged by the 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday, Ternent was insistent that the Dons posed a whole new threat.
"We played very well and got the three points at Sheffield Wednesday, but Wimbledon are a strong side," said Ternent.
"They have good players, they are one of the fancied sides and I am sure they will be a force this season.
"But there are a lot of teams who will feel they can be in the running this season.
"All I can say is that we have also got a good squad, and I trust the players that when they take the field that they will do their best and I can't ask any more than that."
However, Ternent yet again selects from a depleted squad with defenders Graham Branch and Mitchell Thomas both out through injury and midfielder Kevin Ball serves the second game of his two-match suspension.
And the problems could be exacerbated as midfielder Paul Weller is still trying to shake off a hamstring strain which forced his replacement 20 minutes into the second half at Hillsborough.
"Paul is being troubled by the hamstring and it is one that we will have to wait on," explained Ternent.
"However, I have to say that as things stand he is looking doubtful."
Ternent will also have to wait on Dimitrious Papadopoulos as the striker only returned to England today after playing for the Greek under-21 side in their 2-0 defeat in Belarus in midweek.
"Dimitrious is another one that we will have to wait and see how he is," said Ternent. "But it is just one of those situations where you have to grin and bear it."
The visitors also have their injury problems and will be without full-back Kenny Cunningham, who missed their 3-1 opening day success over Birmingham City at Selhurst Park.
They also wait on central defender Mark Williams, midfielder Trond Anderson and striker Neil Shipperley, who all sustained knocks against the Blues.
However, the Dons are confident that Shipperley, a £750,000 buy from Barnsley in the close season, will be fit enough to line up alongside David Connolly in attack.
Shipperley and Connolly, who is looking a superb acquisition after he arrived on a 'free' from Dutch outfit Feyenoord, got their campaigns off to a flying start as they both scored against Birmingham.
