CHURCHES are getting together to spread good news in Leigh.
A series of marquee events is being staged under the Searchlight banner with an open invitation to meetings being held on local authority land next to Kings Park Christian Centre in Leigh Road.
Among the churches behind the outreach are Christ Church at Pennington, Living Waters in Westleigh, Kings Park Christian Centre and Bethany Evangelical Church.
Vicar of Pennington Peter Leakey explained the message behind Searchlight.
He said: "We do believe that Jesus Christ is somebody who can help our town. We are trying to do things to say that Jesus loves everyone and wants everybody to turn to him and to follow Him."
Searchlight will be launched on Tuesday, September 4 at 6pm with a reception followed by an opening service at 7.30 pm. The event is sponsored by Springboard, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York initiative for Evangelism.
During that week there will be a banquet -- entitled "Salmon and Stress" -- for Health and Education Workers.
