APRIL 1956 saw the beginning of the second Chinese (Mandarin) Linguists Course run by RAF on RAF premises.
Sqdn Ldr John Wright was Officer i/c and Flt Lt Joe Cant his 2i/c. There were about 20 of us, mostly National Service Airmen, on the one-year course, which culminated in our posting to Little Sai Wan on Hong Kong Island.
John Bicknell, Terry Hopwood, Ken Maguire, Bob Scoles, Pat Taylor and I (Terry Joyes) have found each other in recent years, but we are still searching for the rest of our colleagues.
If anyone was a member of that 1956-1957 course, please make contact with us. Write to: 24 Grants Close, West Hill, Wincanton, Somerset, BA9 9NS. Tel: 01963 31577., fax: 0845 356 4161 or e-mail terry@ndtrbjoyes.freeserve.co.uk
