LOCAL bowler Kath Kelly has been celebrating pulling off a unique double at the recent Conway Rose Bowl Tournament at Eirias Park.
Not only did she win the prestigious singles competition, beating Brenda Wherrett from Leeds 21-12 in the final.
But she also joined up with her husband Terry to win the Mixed Pairs 15-11 against a couple from Keighley.
So it was two nil to the Kellys and the Red Rose county after the finals, which took place on August 3.
Both events started with 128 competitors so it was no mean achievement for Kath, who bowls for the Unison Club in Bishop Road.
The delighted Newtown-based bowler said: "I am chuffed to bits because not only have I won some great prizes, but it puts me in with a chance of competing in the prestigious Champion of Champions event at Waterloo in September.
"I have been told I am first reserve if someone drops out."
