ON Saturday Sutton's First XI hosted Ainsdale at New Street and ultimately fell to a six wicket defeat.
Ainsdale won the toss and invited Sutton to bat.
Sutton's opening batsmen Mike Rimmer and Swagat Ray coped well with the extra pace of New Zealander Murphy to see off the new ball before Rimmer became the first of four LBW decisions.
Sutton then lost wickets at crucial times as then only Swagat Ray 36 and Kieran Barr with 29 got to grips with some tight bowling as Sutton made 149-8 declared.
Ainsdale's batsmen came out all guns blazing though and Sutton's bowlers could not cope with the onslaught as Ainsdale passed Sutton's total for the loss of only four wickets.
Sutton's Second XI visited Ainsdale were the homesters batted first and made 165 all out.
Sutton's best bowler being Ste Moss who took six wickets. Sutton though batted poorly chasing this total and were 80 all out.
