HAYDOCK First XI paid a visit to Litherland last Saturday in the Southport and District League and suffered a four wicket defeat.
Haydock lost the toss and were inserted on a lively pitch. The visitors were soon in trouble on 42 for 5 with all the premier batsmen back in the pavilion.
This brought to the crease visiting Aussie Adrian Barr.
He proceeded to take the attack to the home side and blasted a fine 100 off only 60 balls, his only support came from Paul Roberts with 24 and on 188 for 8 off only 33.4 overs Haydock made a generous declaration.
After the interval the Haydock bowlers all made contributions in an attempt Litherland but it was to no avail and Litherland passed the Haydock total for the loss of six wickets after 45 overs.
Best for Litherland were C Chatterton with 53 and I Erikson with 36.
Due to the withdrawal of Litherland Second XI from the league Haydock Seconds had no fixture.
Haydock Third XI enjoyed a thrilling one run victory at Dalton.
Batting first Haydock managed 107 all out and in reply Dalton were dismissed for 106, with the experienced John Pye claiming four wickets and junior Kieran Parkinson claiming two.
The only Dietiker Metals sponsored Haydock juniors match to survive the weather was the under 15 clash against Hindley St Peters.
Haydock managed 97 for 4 in 18 overs, a target which Hindley passed without the loss of a single wicket.
