PADIHAM's opening North West Counties league fixture at Formby proved just as tough as expected with the Storks getting nothing out of the game except a feeling of deja vu as they crashed by the same scoreline as last season.
The visistors had plenty of possession, passed the ball around well and created a number of openings but it was the home side who ultimately took the points.
A deflected shot by Lee Royle gave Formby the lead in the 28 minute. Then Mark Wilson made it 2-0 from the penalty spot seven minutes into the second half following a clumsy foul by Storks skipper Jamie Edmondson.
And the same player extended Formby's lead 15 minutes from time when Padiham keeper Terry McGinty misjudged the flight of a free kick and Wilson found himself unmarked at the far post to head in his second. Padiham play local rivals Bacup Borough at the Arbories tomorrow night, kick off 6.30pm.
RESULT: FORMBY... 3 PADIHAM... 0
